YEAR 4 HOLIDAY HOMEWORK
Hello Year 4,
As you know, we have been finding out about how to write a recount in the form of a diary and your homework is to continue your diary writing during the half term holiday. You did some fantastic diary writing about Roman Day and I have been really pleased with the diary entries which you did on Monday. Your diaries will be given back to you on Friday and will include instructions. Here they are as well:
Date homework given: Friday 8th February 2008
Date due back to school: Monday 18th February 2008
TASK: Write at least 3 fantastic diary entries at different times over the holiday. It would be best not to leave this until just before you return to school!
Use the checklist to make sure that you include the important features.
CHECKLIST FOR DIARY WRITING
• Put the events in time order
• Write in the past tense
• Use the third person (I or We)
• Include time connectives. Here are some of the ones which we have used in class:
just then, immediately after , meanwhile ,
later in the morning, next , after a while , at last ,
initially , soon, in no time , minutes later ,
gradually , before , first ,
last of all , to begin with , while , until , before very long,
by the end of the day, subsequently , finally
• Include WOW words
PUNCTUATE SENTENCES – after each full stop, question mark or exclamation mark there MUST be a CAPITAL LETTER.
Try to include , . ? ! “ “
HAVE A BRILLIANT HOLIDAY!

Hello everyone
Hope you enjoyed Roman Day.
I am struggling to write as the letters have worn off this very old keyboard. The people here are wonderful and they keep saying prayers for you all at Greenfields to thank you for all your support. I hope these images come through as this computer is very challenging.
One photograph shows the new school garden that we have helped dig this week. The children want to grow vegetables.
See you soon and enjoy your weeekend.
